At first a property of count Dhaene Steenhuyse, it passed in 1766 to the hands of Bernard Antoine Triest. The Triest couple, who bought the premises in 1766, did a lot of finishing work and brought in a lot of refinement. Under their control some important work to the front of the house was done. The interior was enriched with well known wall paintings from Pierre Norbert van Reysschot, which are still in place today.
The mansion is listed as Hotel Verhaegen Lammens, after the renowned Baron Verhaegen.
His family owned it for more than 150 years, and handed it to the present day owners, the interior decorators Jan Rosseel and Marc Vergauwe. Their interest in the magic of the old days and the respect for the past, combined with an artistic touch and an incredible eye for detail, created a result which can‘t be expressed with words.
